As far as I know, Warning Letter issues to those do not follow superior instruction, Work description, always MIA (Missing in action). Warning letter is some kind of serious punishment to those who refuse to follow the rules. In a company we have any rules to follows, many do /do not. I try my best to follow most of the rules and I do respect those who can follow it fully.

I’d joined this company for 3 years plus, even though I currently work under Japan HQ department, but I still receive my paid by Malaysia management. Basically I need to follow Malaysia management’s rules. I knew very well that a company can be strong and firm if everyone is follow the rules. Remember it said “if”, and if management really strictly enforce all those rules every time, every where.

From my own observation, all this years I do not see any great effort being carried out to enforce the written rules, not once at all. But, recently do not know who take such a good initiative to bring everything back to track by starting some activities like spot-check~ What items they will check in the company compound:~

1. Do not eat anything at place other than Canteen, Rest area and smoking area.
2. Do not eat/drink anything while walking in company permit.
3. Do not bring out any company properties out of company.
4. Do not wear the ESD shoe and Safety boots go out from company permit.
5. etc

I’d learned all these rules at the first day work briefing 3 years ago. But I never see anyone enforce the items above mentioned except item 3. Everyone should know when you write down all the rules yet do not take action to those against it, sooner or later all the rules will just appear as advertisement purpose, and nobody will bother about it anymore. Maybe I’m wrong, but it is true/actual condition. A company without enforce the discipline for longtime will just like a country without government or law, lost control.

For most of us who are sensitive to issue which happens surrounding us, we know about the spot check activities is being carry out. In company, there are many undercover police (appointed staff for doing spot check) who will record down those who break the rules. Luckily none of the designer get caught by them (Sometime we might goes near the border line yet we don’t know).

Yesterday, one of the subordinate received a letter from HR (Human resource) Department, definitely not love letter for sure, is WARNING LETTER. After his explanation then only I knew that he accidentally wear the safety boots went home few days ago. His name being jotted down and he do not know that he will get such a letter from HR, he and I also think is will be proper that HR issue the “show cause letter”
prior Warning letter.

I do not feel happy about this issue. I complaint to my Japanese superior even though I know it would not help. I just can not understand that why the activity only against some of the people yet not 100%? There are many people who are driving car which they can’t make sure what kind of shoe they are wearing while they drive through the guard house. They only see those who are using motorcycle or walking. That’s unfair. A warning letter means a lot to a person in a company. It means the person who received the warning letter as problematic person. It affected their annual increment, annual performance report, their morale, their reputation in company, etc…

A simple warning letter might destroy a person in a company. Why HR can just issue it so easily? To those who make mistake in past few days, they deserve a chance of verbal warning, a chance to get back to correct path. HR crumbled down all their effort towards company all these years by the letter. They work hard for the company and the company issues the warning letter as a appreciation for their good work. Great!

Just because of someone mentioned about the rules and regulation, maybe just because HR people or GA (General Affairs) people wake up from long period sleeping, they find some poor victim, jotted down their name, issues some warning letter, and they can claim the honor of Great Employee who protect company rules. Honor on top of people suffering? WTF.

I just do not wish to see anymore people become the victim of sudden hardworking HR/GA.

    This is so true. There are lapses in what people check and do. By mere chance, when it is one of those days when you absent mindedly do break a rule, that is the day when one gets caught. Rest all the days, other do it knowingly and get away with it. I guess it is part of life and we need to take these things with a pinch of salt and bad luck.
