I think its a questions which bog the mind of many persons nowaday, esp young people. The initial enthusiasm is gradually replaced by doubt over why he's doing such a thing at the first place, when he realise sooner or later this will become "meaningless" to him.

Yes, totally agreed that life and work does not always follow our interest. For example, my interest is history, archaelogical finding and warfare tactic but i am working as engineer. Life is not easy as engineer, but i do discover that by working at different fields you may able to correlate your understanding of your interest subject from different perspective. When you feel stagnated, then its a sign that the time has come to change.

A change is necessary to rejuvenate. Since he has many ideas, why not he go to find some challenges, like treasure hunt activities, real-time tv variety shows, organising some activities he never done before, or any other else that able to change his routine. In this way, he may be able to look from other perspective of life. Why just confined himself to such a situation? Life is short, go and make it meaningful. And do not lost hope. Here I borrow a sentence from the comic Slam Dunk: Do not give up hope until the end. If you give up, the game is already over.

Are your Zer?? Haha...Well, this is the natural course of life. Or I should say, this is usually the case for many people. You study 1 thing, but end up doing jobs not related to what you have learn. I guess you will have to learn to grow interest in your job in order to like it...
