Sunday morning, I woke up and start to prepared my Sunday special menu, special menu for Agnes, Mustard Green Rice. I’d bought mustard green, mince beef and dried mushroom Saturday night. I started to cook at 0745am and dishes being served by 1000am.

Firstly, I think many people don’t know about this Mustard Green, in Mandarin we used to call it as jie cai (芥菜), it looks slightly same as cabbage, and people used to call it as cabbage too. Actually it is different a bit compare in term of taste. I loves it’s taste very much.

Normally Mustard Green Rice cooks with the ingredient: Dried oyster, pork, mustard green and rice. My mum always add in the mushroom to enrich the taste of it. But as for myself, I wish to cook it in my own ways. I cook it with mince beef, dried mushroom, mustard green and rice.

Step 1, I cooks the mince beef with the garlic, then add in the dried mushroom and lastly put in the mustard green. At the same time, I started to cook the rice in the rice cooker, when the rice was 80% cook, I mixed it with the mustard green which cooked separately, stir everything in the rice cooker and continue to cook until 100%…

Dadadada…. Alan’s Mustard Green Rice…

Appearance: 9/10points
Taste: 8/10points (The taste was a bit flat…)
Overall I consider it as a little success for myself in such kind of Rice dishes.

I think I will try Long bean rice tonight… Wish me luck~
