On a fine day 24/Feb, I received a call from a unknown mobile number. They introduce themselves as KPJ health consultant, and they’re would like to invite those selected lucky one, me to join a health talk held at KPJ specialist hospital Seremban. If I attend the presentation session, KPJ will give me a voucher for Blood test, value about RM200. Only a condition, I must come together with my spouse.

Health Talk? not a bad ideas to learn more, right? And some more got complimentary voucher from them too.

I did make an appointment on one fine Saturday. On the day before appointment date, Friday, they called for attendant confirmation (Wow, so pro~~). Then the Saturday morning, when I have my nice breakfast with Agnes, they call again for confirmation and reminder (Wow… They really kiasu that I don’t turn up)… Agnes make joke said that “they are waiting you, be aware…”, I said “Nah, they’re just reminding, nothing much…”

We reached at KPJ specialist hospital on 10:55am, appointment time 11am. We just talk to the reception “We are coming for Health Talk….” and the receptionist show us the room on the right side from the main entrance. In the room, there are 3 Chinese and 1 Indian women, believe all of them is the health talker at 1st sight, and they really are…

Mrs. L appointed to be my health consultant of the day. Agnes and I really wish to have a nice health explanation from Mrs.L, wish to know more about importance of health and the thing we can do the maintain it. Mrs.L never started the talk with all the health related items. After Mrs.L ask for our name, she asked few most important questions of the day which make me feel wish to walk out from the room >> Mrs.L was checking on my financial background where to confirm whether I affordable for any health plan with them.

Waaa… This not suppose a health presentation or explanation? Even in my heart I knew, KPJ is going to promote some package to me at the end of the session, but I never imagine they mentioned it start from the beginning… OMG, what is happening?

Mrs.L asked “How much you afford to pay every month for any health package?”
I already feel uneasy, and just say ” about 150 per month…”

After confirming that I’m not that affordable group, Mrs.L keep on “syok sendiri” (happy alone) talk about their 5 years package, how the installment plan, how the annual payment, and what I can get in the package… Agnes and I already lost interest in her talking, but she still keep on saying “5 years is not enough one, you might will upgrade it to 10 or 18 years after you tried on our services…”

“Madam, I don’t even wish to sign up anything now, don’t tell me all the nonsense, ok?” (Whispering in my heart, I bet Agnes did the same too)

Then I try to make fun on her, I got a white paper and started to wrap up all her saying for the past 1 hour. She started to feel stress in answering all my question… I started to compare all 3 packages in front of her…

eg.
Sign up a 5 years package for 36 months installment (RM153) and each time you wish to carry out the check up, you need to pay RM588 (5 times for 5 years, 1st time is free). Which means 153 * 36 + 588 * 4 = RM7860 for 5 years. [It means RM7860/5 = RM1572 per check up]

Phew~
Mrs.L explained that the full check up consist 110 items and it take about 3-4hours per time. Normal price if without this plan, we need to pay about RM4K per check up. It consist CT scan and all advance instrument checking…

Mrs.L tried to frighten us with words like…
“You don’t want a healthy life? you don’t know what is inside your body, blood test can’t tell you everything….”

“We have specialist handle your check up and you no need to worry, they will provide all the professional advice to you”

“This is a one time deal, if you don’t sign up today, you can’t sign up next time as we open this offer for 20% (Don’t know she refer to which population figure…)”
[But I aunt signed up on 2009, they say the same thing too, wondering why the 20% of "what what population" haven't been filled up for 2 years. My aunt regret on signing this program...]

Mrs.L added to say, if we are in the program, we can enjoys 5% discount on prescription and 10% discount for room rate in any KPJ Hospital. 5% and 10% discount totally no meaning at all in private hospital… eg. you staying at a room with rate RM180, you only get discount RM18, this is serve any mean while you’re paying others thing in high price…?

Agnes and I decide not to sign up their program and we said sorry for hold her long time (about 2hours), you know what Mrs.L said in return?

“Don’t say sorry to me, you should say sorry to your body, even RM153 per month also not willing to invest for your good sake…”

WTF, that the specialist hospital consultant should say to their “future” customer who do not wish to sign up some program with them now. How to re-assemble my trust on this KPJ Hospital service after such stupid presentation session. I tell to myself, temporary I would go for KPJ for any reason, any purpose…

Hereby I attached the complimentary voucher for basic health check, dare to go for it?
